The Garden
John 19:40-41 (NASB)
40 So they took the body of Jesus and bound it in linen wrappings with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews. 41 Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden was a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid.
Golgotha, the Place of a Skull… How much pain did Jesus feel in that place? It wasn’t just physical, for he carried with it the pain of all the sin of mankind. That’s where our savior was crucified. Everything seemed lost. The disciples were probably scattered and in hiding. Their world was no longer the same.
You know what?
That night, Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus prepared Jesus’ body and placed it in a new tomb. Right there, in the Place of a Skull, the place where the greatest pain the world has ever known was felt, there was a garden in which, the greatest miracle ever made, was to take place.
So, I encourage you to wait, wait faithfully, because even in Golgotha, God can grow a garden. Even in your place of pain, God can grow beautiful and marvelous things. If He made all of this possible, He can also give us beauty for our ashes.
