Wildflowers in the Winter
James 1:17 (NASB)
“17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or [a]shifting shadow.”
This year, we lost someone too valuable to us. We know she’s returned to her true home with Jesus, face to face with her Creator. That woman was a wildflower, strong, independent, simple, and beautiful. She made life feel like Spring. This Christmas is going to be a hard one without her. Though we mourn, we are grateful for everything we learned from her, and for all the love she instilled in us for each other. We understand this season is hard for some, and this year, we are part of that demographic. We know we will have Spring again, but for now we will be like she was, beautifully strong. Not with our own strength, but with the Spirit’s.
I love imagining her with Jesus, receiving a warm welcome and a table set before her. Followed by long hugs and laughter. She made it home. We will see each other again. She is an eternal part of His garden now, adorning with her laugh the worship in heaven. It’s our turn now, on this side of eternity, to wait patiently for the next season. If we’ve learned anything on this path, is that God is faithful, and though we have seasons, He doesn’t shift or change. We can always expect Him to keep His promises. He promises peace and His strength, and we hold on to that.
So, this Thanksgiving we will have much to be grateful for, much to cry and much to laugh for.
“24 This is the day which the Lord has made;Let’s rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalm 118:24 (NASB)
This song reminds us of God's nature, give it a listen.
Tell us what you think. How is this season for you?
